From what I saw on the first page and other pages on the site, it is meant as a joke. Depending on any given person's sense of humor or their sensitivity to certain issues it can be seen as anything from very funny(for twisted sense of humor) to down right tasteless and offensive. The site seems to be a parody of both Pagans and Christians depending on where you look. It comes across to me as both are getting equal fun made of them.
But there also lies the danger of someone taking the site seriously and believing that it is speaking the truth about Pagans, or more specifically about Wicca. Those who are uninformed, ignorant or just don't care enough(or too lazy) to research to find the truth will probably take this info and run with it and make things worse. Ignorant people are some of the most dangerous people on the planet.

If ignorance is bliss...then I personally would rather not know bliss.

Personally I found the site to be stupid, although if I had the extra money I wouldn't mind having some of the t-shirts they sell. Like "Sinner", "Heathen", "Ex Christian" or one of the many other shirts that are actually truth in advertising for what I myself am today.
The bottom line of all of this is, just because you have different beliefs than others it does not make you a bad person. Many people fear what they do not know or understand, but that does not make you what they think of you. Who you are is the one thing in life that you and you alone have total control over!
I hope that this helps you with your feelings about this site.

Lol, I remember that stupid site. I totally thought they were serious at first... There's one page I don't remember too much about, but it's from the same site. To me, it seems more a mockery of religion in general, although namely Christianity. It's kinda making fun of their general tendency to stereotype, demonize, and to blow anything way out of proportion. I actually thought it was funny when I eventually realized it was a joke.

thanks! i realized a little later that i shouldnt have gotten so upset... its just this kind of thing can cause serious problems, like watertiger said
i live in a small town and i know that if my step dad found this hed probably grab a torch and a pitchfork and some of his psyco druggie friends and burn everyone who either smells bad or wears black...

kat bruce...greetings...just let me say this...i do not need to go to this page to give you my opinion...first of all if it were not for those damned baptist i would not have been put in this situation that i am stuck in...there is nothing that comes from them whatsoever that can ever be deemed as good...they appear to be only "good" for one thing and one thing only...and that is causing everyone pain and misery...oh not to mention suffering needlessly...so if they have a site that you might want to check out again i would suggest that you do not go to ANY site that has baptist attached to it...you will come away with more bad things in your life than you can deal with...i know this because i have been a victim of their wrath...and i didnt even do anything to deserve it...just wanted to be left alone...to do what it is that i do...not hurt anyone...so be careful of going to any more of their sites...wouldnt want a friend caught up in what they have to dish out...contact back here if you want any more opinion on these ones who deliver evil...Blessed BE...DW

Sorry Kat.. but I started chuckling after the first paragraph when they "took her to the furnace" then in a later paragraph "From what we can gather, LIKE JEWISH PEOPLE, Wiccans kidnap Christian children and drink their blood to seal their commitment to Satan." (the caps are mine).

I have seen and heard a heck of a lot worse from real haters... this was a joke. I think of my life as a Christian and now as a Pagan... I gotta tell ya.. I have heard from haters on both. I just don't care. Don't get me wrong... I was much more easily offended and hurt when I was younger. Now that I am an old fart... most of what people say doesn't bother me. Don't be so afraid little one... life will have it's hills and valleys... remember to stay true to your course. Remember who you are and what you believe in... and to quote a Christian "the hell with the rest of them" lol

Well, I do see what you are talking about. But seriously, she threw the cat over 293 pews???? I'm confident some football team is looking for that kind of skill.

I have mixed reactions about the rest of the site. It sounds like "tongue in cheek" humor in some places. I mean, come on, wiccans are usually overweight and pale? Gee, I thought that was just people addicted to Wii, Play Station or any other gaming device.

All kidding aside, the only problem is, some people are going to see this site and think its real.

I don't even have to click on the link. Landover Baptist Church is a serious abomination. Those are the guys that demonstrate at war veteran funerals. I really would like to see them arrested.

Yeah, I think this was meant to be a joke, but in my opinion it was a very bad attempt. I too am offended by this. If we look at this and laugh then we are allowing the continuence of the fearful stereotypes of what Paganism is and what Wicca is.

Try not to get too upset about it, but I support and share your feelings of anger and frustration. Use that energy to propel you forward in your spiritual journey rather than allowing it to block your path.

Hey Bruce -
I was jsut reading your post. Those are some prettry strong statements you're making there. I don't know what your circumstances are, but I wanted to share with everyone, that there are people in all walks of life that are or can be over zealous about their beliefs. Christians have been known for their intolerance since the beginning of time. But just as there is the strand of truth associated with all spirit, there are those on all paths that do good works.

I hope that you find peace and forgiveness.

Holy Crazy Christian Crusader, Batman!!! W-O-W. Um, can that be real? I don't know....but what they were suggesting our habits were....draining children of their blood and eating people and whatnot, could only have been thought up by the sickest of the sick minded. I didn't know that Landover is THAT particular religious group. Thanks for the update. I really do dislike those people for their behaviour in the name of Jesus. This may be a bit of a stretch, but aren't Christians guilty of many of the sins they accuse Pagans of?

As a Wiccan with strong ties to Christianity, it seems that the Pagan community world-wide comes closer to following the teachings of The Christ more closely than do those who claim to be "christ-like".

However, if you disagree, I will present myself for ritual stoning outside the gates of the city at sunset on February 29th.
