Seal's medicine includes protection during change, dreaming and lucid dreaming, imagination, creativity, protection from danger, movement through emotions, the inner voice
Celtic beliefs imply the human connection to animals is literal. It is believed that animals have the power to change into human form, and that entire clans are descended from the union of these animal people and humans. Dogs, wolves and cats are some of these animals, and one of the most common associations is…

totem, medicine, shamanism, hyena
Animal-Wise/Ted Andrews:
Keynote: Formidable instincts and abilities. Develop clan and communal life.
Hyenas are dog-like creatures of Africa and Asia and are often scorned for their funny looks and their scavenging habits, but they are in reality formidable hunters, taking on formidable prey. They have keen noses for hunting, and actually hunt more prey than scavenge. They will chase off lions, and a fully-grown hyena is capable of…

The Okapi is found in rain forests of the Congo region and was unknown to science until around 1900. Because of its late discovery, its shy disposition and solitary lifestyle it holds the medicine of elusiveness. It is a member of the giraffe family and those with this totem should also study the giraffe. The giraffe's neck extends into the sky giving it the ability to see into the distant future. The okapi however, has short legs and a short neck and focuses its sight on the present and near…

The vulture is a member of the raptor family. They feed exclusively on carrion and perform a very useful function by disposing of potential sources of disease. The Pueblo Indians saw the vulture as a sign of purification and the Greeks considered it to be a symbol of transformation. As old decayed flesh was removed new life emerged. These amazing birds are vital for the health and well being of mankind and all other life forms.
The Andean Condor is the largest of the vultures with a…

The wolverine is known for its great ferocity and extraordinary strength. Indian mythology describes the wolverine as a trickster hero, a link between the material world and the spirit world. In ancient mythology the energy of a trickster is linked to the underworld where the secrets of creation live.
Baby wolverines are born blind and weigh less than one pound. This prompts all their other sensory organs to awaken quickly, their sense of smell, feeling and inner sight are heightened…

Crow/Raven: Sep 22 – Oct 22
Highly enthusiastic, and a natural entrepreneur, the Crow is quite a charmer. But he/she doesn't have to work at being charming – it comes easily. Everyone recognizes the Crow's easy energy, and everyone turns to the Crow for his/her ideas and opinions. This is because the Crow is both idealistic and diplomatic and is quite ingenious. In nurturing environments this Native American animal symbol is easy-going, can be romantic, and soft-spoken. Further, the crow…

This has been something that in my tradition the tools feel better suited to the elements that I have chosen, and I will explain my reasoning behind it.
Okay! first and foremost all you really need is the will and the word, everything else is window dressing and status symbols. The one absolute is the Book of Shadows.
Water= Chalice, bowl, cauldron. reasoning is self explanitory.
Earth= Pentacle. it represents the unified materialistic ie also coin prosperity.
Air = Fan…

History and the Witch Hunts
For most people, the witch hunts provide one of the most powerful testimonies of the evils of institutional religion and specifically the Christian Church. According to the popular image of the witch hunts, this was the time when a powerful Christian church kept humanity in ignorance and superstition, exercising a tyranny over intellectual life that saw hundreds of thousands, if not millions of innocent women sent to the stake. It was a campaign of…

O' Lady O' Lord grant me the peace of mind to go through the day, and by night. Grant me the self control that I keep my words in order, when surrounded by chaos. Grant me the self control so that I don't react to mundane stupidity. Grant me the wisdom to know better and the cunning to apply with grace. Grant me the ability to learn & grow and pass along what I…

The earliest known use of the pentagram dates back to around 3500BC at Ur of the Chaldees in Ancient Mesopotamia where it was symbolic of imperial power. (And just before that time roughly a thousand years prior came the mystery of the inverted pyramid of Egypt, at the bass of the pyramid there are four point the fifth is the in the center and most highest point.)
Amongst the Hebrews, the symbol was ascribed to Truth and to the five books of the Pentateuch. It is sometimes,…

Recently I had a dream that I am still wondering about.
I was dreaming nothing but darkness. Then suddenly there were flashes, like lighting. As the lights were flashing, a man's face appeared. He had light skin, brown semi-curly hair and beard. He had a crown of some sort of leaves. I couldn't make out the color of his eyes because of all the lights flashing.
Then I woke up. I was wondering if any of you had any ideas of what this dream may mean? Or if these are symbols…

Scientists at the national museum of New Zealand, Te Papa, have recently completed dissections of several enormous squids, including pieces of a colossal squid -- the largest invertebrate ever caught. The female specimen weighs more than 1,000 pounds and measures 26 feet long.
The squid's resemblance to fiction's monsters of the deep, including its dinner-plate-size eyes, has attracted global interest. Scientists now believe the cephalopods can grow even larger, to more than 45 feet…

I don't exactly remember what rekindled my interest in paganism, or any religion at all, really. For the past few years, I have been nothing but agnostic, refusing to make any claims about things I couldn't possibly know. And to me, that makes sense. Just as it makes sense to me that it is not my place to judge other people. Yes, I talk about them, voice my opinion, and can do little to stop myself from forming an opinion, but the fact of the matter is, what I think doesn't mean shit to most…
