This time of year it is a common thing for people to say "Merry Christmas" to anyone and everyone several times a day. I usually say "have a nice holiday" back... but there have been times when I get tired and just say "you too". :)
I am just wondering how everyone else responds and if you make a big deal about it, or like me am just too tired to argue about it. :)

I am going to ask each of you to look at things a little differently for the next week. Actually it is a sort of challenge, a dare if you will.
I am going to ask you to really think about how you treat those older than yourselves. Not only the 80 year old great grandma figure that shuffles with a walker... but those who are your parents age or older and I will tell you why.
When you think I am not looking I see you roll your eyes, I hear that long drawn out sigh that tells… Continue

She stands alone. Alone and waiting. Eyes dim with age, seeing more clearly than the young. Mute, she speaks volumes to those who will listen. She shuffles carefully over broken stones as she wanders with a gnarled hand holding staff. She is here, she is gone. Her cold breath surrounds. Watchful, waiting. Death or life... rebirth. She waits.

When you cast your circle and create your magicks... do you use poetry? The reason I ask is because when I was new to paganism I was told that all spells had to be done poetically. I was very frustrated because though I love to read poetry... it takes me days to write a poetically correct passage. I no longer need poetry.. I just communicate and that seems to work for me. But what about you?

Today at work all I heard from every direction was what people were going through trying to get ready for the "big day" (Christmas). It didn't bother me... I just oohed and aahed to everything they said. Later in the day someone brought up that I had it easy because I wasn't Christian. A fairly new... and rather young woman.. asked "you aren't Christian?" I responded no, I am pagan. She asked "Why did you become a pagan?" I responded... so I don't have to do any shopping in December. She looked… Continue

A psychologist friend recently told me that all prayer is self talk. He is an athiest. He says that no matter if you pray silently like most Christian religions or chanting out loud like many non-christians... it is still just self talk. If you want something bad enough you will talk yourself into figuring out a way to get it. When we get the "idea" of how to get what we want... it is then considered an answer from our God or Goddess. In his opinion when we ask a question, we already know the… Continue

Often I will hear of an atrocity that one human has done to another... or to a child or animal. When I hear of these things my first response has always been "I don't get it" or "I don't understand how someone could do that". Someone told me once... "Be thankful you don't get it, or don't understand it. If you did... you would be just like them!"
I thank Goddess... I don't get it!

This is a long post... so kick back, relax, make sure your glass of tea is filled. :)
I work with a woman who I have always felt was the most depressed woman I had ever met. We have phone jobs... in collections... and if a customer yelled at her (which happens daily) she would burst into tears. And yet... she has a parttime job at the State Penitentiary, so I didn't get it. Working 2 jobs and she had a hard time making ends meet and finding a place to live. I felt sorry for… Continue

Most of us believe in reincarnation. IMO... reincarnation is to correct what went wrong in previous lives. Karma plays a part in reincarnation (again imo) in that lessons we did not learn in our previous lives come up in our new lives to be learned or corrected. I do not believe that if we did horrible things in our past lives that we are bound to be miserable in our current life.
As an example: I believe that in a previous life I had a lot of children and was very poor. I believe… Continue

IMO..Our lives are not predestind as the Christian dogma believes... we are in charge of our own destiny. If we harm someone yes it will come back to us... but it does not apply to everything that happens in our lives. For example... I have a very old car... I know it will break down from time to time... is it Karma that it breaks down after I have a disagreement with someone... or is it just that the car is old and falling apart? IMO.. it has nothing to do with Karma, bad things happen to good… Continue
