Response to Christian who believes wicca is an invalid path

Responding to the Christian apologetics view on wiccan beliefs. A response to what I found on CARM.com

The following list of affirmations and denials are held by most Wiccans. But because there are differences among Wiccan traditions, not every we can will affirm or deny every statement listed here. Nevertheless, the list is accepted by almost all Wiccans:

  • Affirms

  • The existence of a supreme divine power known as "The One," or "The All."

  • "The All" is not separate from the universe, but part of it.

  • That from "The All" came the god and goddess.

  • That the god and goddess are manifested in various forms in the universe.

  • Nature worship and, therefore, environmental concerns are high.

  • Divinity is within.

  • Biological evolution.

  • That there are different and valid paths to finding the truth about God.

  • That all creatures have a life force, a soul.

  • The male and female principles are in balance throughout the universe.

  • The equality of the sexes.

  • That each person has male and female aspects that need to be balanced.

  • Multiple reincarnations.

  • The teaching of karma.

  • The practice of rituals designed to attune Wiccans to the natural life forces.

  • That upon death a person is released back to a place called Summerland.

  • That different paths to spirituality are acceptable as long as they don't hurt anyone.

  • Personal responsibility for ones actions.

  • Denies

  • The concept of Heaven and Hell (Matt. 25:46).

  • The existence of the Devil and the worship of the devil, Lucifer, etc. (Matt. 4:1ff).

  • The existence of absolute evil (Psalm 34:14; 35:10).

  • The inspiration and authority of the Bible (2 Tim. 3:16).

  • A need for salvation (Rom. 3:23).

  • Moral absolutes (Exodus 20).

  • That Jesus is the only way to salvation (John 14:6).

  • The male headship presented by Christianity (Eph. 4:11; Eph. 5).

  • A religious authoritative hierarchy (Eph. 4:11; Eph. 5).

  • The concept that humanity is to subdue the earth (Gen. 1:28).

Answer to A: Hell and heaven are states of consciousness; hell is a lower state while heaven is a higher state, so in truth wiccans do believe in heaven and hell not just the Christian concept of them.

Answer to B: The devil as a being cannot exist if the Christian God is all wise, omniscient and loving. If the devil did exist, he would have been destroyed. What purpose would god have in allowing a evil entity to exist? The term Devil is most likely meant as a metaphor, symbol, or simile. Wiccans don’t worship the devil, they worship nature. If wicca was devil worship, why is wicca so peaceful and loving while rejecting the devil? Common sense is very important.

Answer to C: Evil does exist but it doesn't matter if people don’t believe in supreme evil that christians call demons/Satan?

Answer to D: Sure that god inspired the bible but he did not write the bible. In fact the bible says that god is the word and the word is with Jesus! There exist many mistakes and contradictions in the bible as well as atrocities and deceit. These mistakes exist because humans wrote the bible and humans don’t know it all. The sad thing is, evil humans also got their hands on the bible. A book cannot be the ruler of people’s lives, especially not a book that encourages wickedness, and DEFINITELY, not a book that you have no idea on who wrote it.

Answer to E: The world needs a savior, YOU. Jesus came and did his job, now it is your turn! Planet Earth is suffering because people reject kindness and love. Be the Change!

Answer to F: Moral absolutes are the following: Kindness, selflessness, compassion, goodness, peace, gentleness, self control, forgiveness, mercy, unconditional love, understanding and respect: Wiccans do not reject morality.

Answer to G: Jesus is the way to salvation, not Christianity. Jesus did not say Christianity is the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to god but through the christian religion. If you have read the gospels, the parables and the life of Jesus, you would have known that Jesus lived by the law of good deeds and spiritual love, these open the doors to heaven not faith in Jesus. When Jesus said he was the way, he meant his path is the only path to god, his path was love. Faith alone saves is a deception in order to lead people off the path of goodness.

Answer to H: Christianity may feel that women are inferior to men but not the cosmos and most certainly not god. Men and Women are EQUAL!!!!

Answer to I: There is a difference between authoritativeness and authoritarianism, the christian church rulers would be authoritarianism. Read the teachings of Jesus and you will find these four verses. ‘’Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inside are ravening wolves.’’ ‘’These people are hypocrites! They honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me.’’ ‘’Woe to the Pharisees (religious authorities) who have taken all keys to heaven and won’t enter and won’t let you enter either.’’ ‘’Beware of the Pharisees for they have taken all the keys to heaven and have hidden them, you on the other hand be as gentle as doves and wise as serpents.’’ It is clear that Jesus wants us not to follow the religious hierarchy, everyone is their own authority.

Answer to J: By subdue what do you mean? Trash the earth, kill the animals annihilate forests and pollute oceans? Earth is home to all. Why would you want to destroy your home? Humans can go extinct that way! Humans are not superior to anything, all life is connected. As chief Seattle once said ‘’we do not own the earth we are a part of it.’’ Animals have a better understanding of the principles of life better than we and that’s why they make excellent teachers. Don’t be focusing your life around getting to heaven, cause heaven is already here! Christianity seems to depreciate life and instead focus on the life after this one. I’m sure this is not what god wants and neither does Jesus.

The forever problem with the Christian way is the focus on the male only, Christ and his 12 men. When we say God, it is He. That is why I do as a Wiccan refer to our source as ONE, the source of creation in harmony and balance; light and dark, sun and moon, male and female. We are equal through the soul, our energies the same as is our capacity to create. Do no harm, and do as you will. That is the tenant for all human beings, and it is of Wiccan, and here the Goddess is met in that equality. I Know My Source As I Look To The Heavens, To The Sunrise And The Moonrise, There For All To See In Faith. Blessed Be.
