Generally you mark a circle for pagan rituals.in the center you have the altar,then you have north,south,east and west.It can be used for the rites of healing,meditation,marriage,purification,solitary,equinox and other.In circle the energy is enhanced,you are protected.Every culture have it,the circling of Kaba,the circular dances of the dervishes,and other circular dances throughout the world.Most of the megaliths are placed in circle.It also has to do with geodesy,geomagnetism (art of replacement according to the celestial bodies and the energies of the universe)
