Hello. Throughout my life I have had a different family. From childhood, my uncle would see horrible things or know things before they would happen. I grew up listening to stories of his visions and thoughts. One of his earliest happened when he was 5 years old and driving with my grandmother, through the mountain woods where they lived. According to the story, his eyes seemed to glaze over and he pointed at a deep ravine ahead. He told my grandmother that an old man was stuck and was going to die there that day. My grandmother brushed it off and told him not to make up stories. Hours later, as they were driving home, they were stopped by a road block. The officers informed my grandmother that the night before, an older man had flipped his car. It hadn't left any damage to show where he had gone over. His legs were pinned and he had died of exposure to the freezing winter temperatures just a few hours earlier. After the incident everyone put faith in what my uncle would say. He is only wrong about 1-10 times.

I have always been a dreamer. I never really understood what my uncle went through. I would see mundane things and hear future conversations that would happen around me. I have been happy with that ability and never have tried to shut it out of my mind. About two months ago, though, something changed. I had a horrible nightmare. It occured over and over for a week. In the dream, I was sitting in a room with a light yellow and flowered wallpaper. The bed covers were pulled up to my waist. The sheets were lilac in colour but the comforter was a dark brown. I could smell smoke. It was like I was looking through someone elses eyes. I could see the bedroom door catch on fire. I ran to a window but it was barred closed. The next thing I know, I am in a small closit with the door closed and my knees pulled up to my chest. I had dirty blonde hair that fell to my mid chest and a large red wine stain birthmark on my left arm. Suddenly flames were licking up my feet. On the last night of the dream, I couldn't wake up. I felt my skin bubbling and melting away. I felt the heat, pain, fear, and helplessness. That night on the local news, a story was relieced of a woman dieing in a house fire. Her picture was of a woman in her late thirties with dirty blonde hair to her mid back. She was identified by a large birthmark on her arm. I now understand why my uncle hated to dream, at night or in his waking hours. I feel that I was with her on that last night. I hope that she felt me just a bit or that I took some of her pain. I have, sincr, developed an unwivering fear of burning alive. Every day, I check each plug and light before heading off to bed.

I just felt that I had to share my experience with someone. If you have ever had something like this happen to you, then my advice is to remember it. These things happen for a reason. I feel that someone has to remember those who called out for help or understanding. Even if you can't help them, you can use the experience to help others. I have recently volunteered at a burn clinic. I have a special friend who is 5 years old, there. She needed someone to talk to about her experience, and having felt the pain, I can let her speak and truly listen to her emotions.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
