hey All

I was just reading something very itneresting about the mayan prophecy today, I already knew the prediction of the end of the world to be in 2012, but today I read how they done it, and it was by having a 250 day and the 365 day calenders then the 3rd calendar which was something like00001 etc and each one went up each year and such. According to it, it was a magnetic field failure on earth which is weakening and a solar flare from the sun breaks threw and we all die from the gasses and heat (similar to "Knowing" movie, or because a comet named niribu hits the earth on december 21st 2012.

Despite most of the mayan prophecies becoming true so far, i still have a doubt that they, good s they were at astronomy could look into 5,200 years time and know a date and such for the end of the planet.

what do you all think?

I think that the end of the Mayan calendar is ancient equivalent of Y2K. Basically you had some Mayan calendar makers talking among themselves:
"Hey, our calendar runs out on [insert glyphs equivalent to Dec 21, 2012]. Aren't people going to get worried when they see it just ending all of the sudden?"
"Look we made this thing good for over 5000 years. Someone else will fix it long before that ever becomes an issue."

That's my take on it anyway.
The Myans were more advanced than we will ever be. I don't think it was an oversite nor idle chatter .. too many others give the same date .. i agree with the solar flare .. our ozone is already weakened .. with all defenses weakened the flare is a real concept .. my 2 cents anyway .. BB
I believe y2k12 like y2k
