I agree with you mostly, but I love trying to understand the mind. I'm hoping to get into psychology, and hopefully integrate music into my studies/treatment.

And @ Rebecca
I think I've had one of those dreams where I woke up. I can't remember it though. Maybe I should start writing these down.

@Belle Noire
Well according to modern sciences view on dreams and DMT, it seems that is likely the case. Like I said before, even our waking life is a hallucination. You are associating these controlled and random illusions with chaotic ones. We can really only ever perceive through illusion, if it is to be believed that DMT persists during our waking moments (and that seems likely).

Speaking of hallucinations has anyone had that dream where you think you've woken up and you haven't and if you have what happend and how long did it take to realize that it was still a dream and if you've ever had a Hallucination did that compare or not

I found this about it: "The Nyaya and Vaisheshika schools of Hindu philosophy state that Akasha or ether is the fifth physical substance, which is the substratum of the quality of sound."

That's really interesting, because one method of inducing hallucinations, by lowering your brain state to the theta level, is done by sound. One pitch in the left ear, with a pitch very close but slightly off in the other. As the pitches gradually move closer, they create a demonstrable hallucination of oscillation, even though there is no physical point where the sound exists. It is thought that this triggers the brain to follow the same rate as the mental sound wave. Once the pitches get close enough, the oscillation is at the same frequency as theta waves in the human brain. Great way to get to sleep too :P But still best for meditation.

Well if you don't dream for long enough you start to hallucinate so I'm pretty sure you need to do one or the other to stay "sane"

Really? That's very intriguing. I don't know what Akasha is though.

Some think you can travel to the Akasha that way aslo some think that it was how our monkey ancestors evolved a more extensive brain.

I'm fairly new to paganism and magick and the like. I actually just left Christianity for intellectual reasons, and I remain a very skeptical person. However, as I understand it, dreams are just hallucinations. That same chemical that is stronger than LSD for inducing hallucinations is DMT. This is produced while we sleep, and some suggest as we are awake as well. Essentially what we experience is just a waking hallucination put together from the individual things we perceive from each of the senses.

Also, why can't I do magick while high? I have a deeper spiritual understanding of my surroundings while high, regardless of the reason. Meditation is the only way to achieve this while remaining clear headed though. Is that the reason? Personally I would just expect the magick to be more chaotic. But like I said, I'm a n00b with magick. I'd appreciate any corrections very much :)

What would the purpose of having a hallucination? You can't perform magick if you are high.
