Poetry?

When you cast your circle and create your magicks... do you use poetry? The reason I ask is because when I was new to paganism I was told that all spells had to be done poetically. I was very frustrated because though I love to read poetry... it takes me days to write a poetically correct passage. I no longer need poetry.. I just communicate and that seems to work for me. But what about you?

Comment by Mandi on April 25, 2009 at 9:19am: i use prose and poetry myslf in my spell casting. it's easy for me to write this way. it's not for everyone tho. i think that it's good that you found your own way of spellcasting. probably more effective that way for you.

Comment by Rowan Canterbury on December 2, 2008 at 10:36am: I speak in other languages. I know about three. Mostly I do what comes natural. I don't think you can do a ritual or a spell if you are so focused on the words coming out of your mouth that you don't feel the feeling coming out of your heart. Again. I am of the education and belief that Magick is very personal and must be pure to work. If we use strict confides we greatly decrease our ability to reach into the unknown.

However in all my readings, they say as long as you make your intent clear, and your will/desire is strong, your Magick will work. Thats the joy of Wicca, There is NO wrong. If it feels right, it is. Especially on the Eclectic Path. A good philosophy is- If it aint broke, dont fix it. Whatever works for the individual IS right . Wishing you Love and Light!
